Audite International Masterclass

FAQs

  • How do I get the 20% discount?
    • Click here and join as a standard or premium member.
  • Is this the right class for me?
    • If you are looking to learn how to connect with musicians in order to play music with its fullest expression – or improve your existing skills in this regard – then this would be a great way to start – see the feedback.
  • How much time will I get with the orchestra?
    • This is not a programme where anyone is guaranteed a certain number of minutes of time on the rostrum. Audite is an opportunity to learn about and acquire advanced conducting technique, to experience its practical application in the context of a high level orchestra, and all for a modest registration fee. Those elements are guaranteed. In addition the programme may also include an opportunity to conduct the orchestra in rehearsal and performance situations.
  • Who decides who conducts the orchestra?
    • On the basis of live auditions (and, depending on demand for places, possibly also online submissions), the CA Directors decide which conductors will work with the orchestra.
  • Does that mean I might be a passive participant?
    • We believe that many masterclasses place too much emphasis on “podium time”. This programme is organised in such a way that, irrespective of whether they are conducting the orchestra or not, everyone should be actively engaged all the time. The reason we are selective about those invited to conduct the orchestra is because provided those who are conducting are sufficiently capable, issues and solutions can be illustrated for everybody.
  • How many conductors will be chosen to conduct the orchestra?
    • The target is 12. A key premise of Audite, however, is that the opportunity to conduct a fine orchestra is one which should be earned through skill so, depending on the overall number and quality of the applications, the Directors may decide to select fewer candidates.
  • How many conductors perform at the final concert?
    • Three conductors will be chosen by the CA Directors to rehearse and conduct a final performance.
  • Do I need to learn the entire programme?
    • Yes, these are enormously rewarding pieces for study! Every conductor should be aware of the challenges they present and ways these can be resolved.
  • If I cannot attend the online classes for some reason, can I still attend the live classes?
    • Yes. Recordings of online sessions can be made available to anyone unable to attend in person to ensure that nothing is missed.
  • Can I attend only the online sessions?
    • Of course it would be a shame to miss the live part of the class but you are welcome to attend only the online part, which is a great way to start of the process of learning about advanced techniques.
  • Can I watch the whole Audite programme online?
    • Although we believe online learning to be hugely valuable, participation in the classes in Budapest is free because we believe that there is no substitute for direct personal experience – and previous participants’ feedback reinforces this view.
  • How is this programme funded?
    • Audite is provided by Classic Concerts Trust (a registered charity) with funds raised primarily through donations.
  • Will this programme be available again?
    • We hope so but it depends entirely on the funds raised by Classic Concert Trust. The more people who join the programme, the stronger the argument for support and the better the chance that we can continue to develop it.
  • Are registration fees refundable?
    • We regret that registration fees can only be refunded in the event either of an application not being accepted or the class being cancelled in its entirety.
  • Are there any other terms and conditions?
