Effective rehearsal?

The clip below has three versions of the start from a rehearsal of the finale of Mendelssohn’s Symphony No 3 Scottish.

It might be considered that repetition of a passage in rehearsal should produce differences of quality of sound or interpretation. If so, then logically those differences would be discernible and, if the order in which the extracts were originally played were to have been altered (and it has here), to be able to put them in the right order with a credible explanation as to how this was achieved.

I will announce the correct order at the start of a free online class on this symphony in October. This will be offered to anyone who posts a comment below before 30 September with a ranking of the three extracts and a brief explanation as to how they believe the sound developed.

The first person who identifies the correct ordering of the extracts with a rational explanation as to how this judgement was made will be offered a free one hour one-to-one lesson.

The film from which these extracts were taken is here. You are welcome to use this additional information if you believe that seeing the conductor and hearing his comments to the orchestra would assist you in forming an opinion.
